Caroline Hall is an established artists specialising in painting landscapes. She moved to St Ouen in Jersey from London with her family in 1977 and spent several years studying and then working in the island before returning to the mainland to train as a BBC reporter. 10 years ago she graduated from Winchester School of Art with a Masters in Painting and was immediately names as an 'artist to watch' by emerging arts specialist’s degree art. Since then her career has gone from strength to strength with exhibitions throughout the UK and Europe and her work on trademark aluminium is in public and private collections worldwide. Although now based in Winchester Caroline regularly returns to the family home in Jersey where she finds inspiration from the cliff walks at Les Landes and along the bay from L'Etaq.
"Wherever I am living there is always a large part of my soul that belongs in Jersey. When i was offered the chance to create a new collection of work for CCA Galleries International it was too good an opportunity to miss. I am happiest when I am by the sea, particularly the coastline around Grosnez, so all these new paintings come from the heart."
Caroline will be presenting a series of paintings celebrating the St Ouen's coastline - her recognisable seascape stretched across aluminium and a series of abstract wave studies on birch wood panels. She will also be showing some of the videos that have formed part of her practice since studying for her Masters in Winchester.
This is a landmark year for Caroline, who has also been invited to hold a major solo exhibition celebrating a decade of painting at Southampton City Art Gallery which runs until the middle of August.
