One Man Show
with Award-Winning Artist Bruce McLean
9 April - 30 April 2014

For the month of April, CCA Galleries International will be transformed into a dedicated space for contemporary British Artist, Bruce McLean. The exhibition will feature his most recent paintings and prints exploring nature, flora and plant forms which have a dynamic and abstract quality.

Born in 1944, McLean studied at Glasgow school of art and at St. Martin's in London, where he was taught by Sir Anthony Caro amongst others. McLean has gained international recognition for his paintings, ceramics, prints, work with film, theatre and books. McLean was Head of Graduate Painting at The Slade School of Fine Art London.

He has had numerous one man exhibitions at the Tate Gallery in London, The Modern Art Gallery in Vienna and Museum of Modern Art, Oxford. In 1985, he won the John Moore’s Painting Prize. He is currently exhibiting 'Another Condition of Sculpture' at Leeds Art Gallery and will be having a survey show at the First Site Gallery, Colchester in June.

On speaking about his aim for the show, Bruce McLean says;
‘Jersey is a unique place to have an exhibition and I love the space – it lends itself well to create a rich, colourful and lush show mixing different types of work from collage, paintings and sculpture.

It is also a good opportunity to critique my own work. This show is significant as it will include a lifetimes worth of work - over 50 years which will hopefully give people an insight into how my work has changed and developed.’

The exhibition runs from Wednesday 9th April until Saturday 30th April with a special Private View on Tuesday 8th April.
