'Wightwick Manor' - A signed limited edition silkscreen print by British architectural artist John Piper. Levinson 274.
From Victorian Dream Palaces, 1977: a portfolio of eight screen-prints. Description below: 'Wightwick Manor, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, is a particularly Englishmkind of Dream Palace, built in Victorian Tudor half-timber, with some brick and stone in the base storey, the tower and chimneys. Edward Ould was the architect, and it was begun in 1887 for Theodore Mander, a member of the well known paint firm. Lived in by Mander ever since, the National Trust has owned in since 1937. There is a grand collection pf pre-Raphaelite paintings and artifacts, including much by William Morris- wallpapers, furnishing fabrics and wall hangings- tiles by William de Morgan and stained glass by Kempe.'
