New Releases for Christmas
25 November 2015 - 30 January 2016

To take you into the festive season and New Year, CCA Galleries International is proud to showcase a mixed show by established British artists by StormStudios. Plus an exclusive preview of jewellery designs by international designer, Vanessa Linden.

StormStudios is a design company formed in the early 1990's by Storm Thorgerson (ex Hipgnosis and Greenback Films) and Peter Curzon (designer), joined soon after by Rupert Truman (photographer) and later by Dan Abbott (designer and illustrator).

Together they have created designs for many diverse projects including exhibitions, company logos, websites, typefaces, books and airships, but most notably they have designed album covers for bands such as Pink Floyd, Muse, Biffy Clyro, The Steve Miller Band, Ian Dury And The Blockheads, Pendulum, The Cranberries, The Mars Volta, Alan Parsons and many others. The founder, Storm Thorgerson sadly passed away in 2013 but the Studio remains busy creating 'normal but not' designs.

Alongside this eclectic selection of work is German born jewellery designer, Vanessa Linden who lives and works from her studio in Essen, Germany. She creates bespoke pieces of jewellery inspired by nature and alchemy. The materials she uses are wide-ranging from stone to metal, silver and gold to precious stones. Her keen interest in jewellery led her to London where she studied Jewellery Design at The Cass, London Metropolitan University and Central Saint Martins University of the Arts, qualifying in 1993 with a BA (Hons). She moved to Jersey with her mother, working as a freelance Jewellery Designer - exhibiting her creations at ‘Falle Fine Art’. Since then, she has been showcasing her work at trade fairs such as ‘International Jewellery London’ (IJL) and in Munich.

For the last 18 years, Vanessa created her collections at her own workshop in Germany. Most recently, she has added 6 workbenches to her studio where she invites budding jewellers to create their own pieces. After 25 years of honing her skills to produce high quality pieces, she now enjoys pushing the boundaries with the use of new techniques and materials.

In 2014, Vanessa embarked on her most ambitious project to date, under the label ‘Alchemista’ where she brings together her holistic approach of spirituality and art; “When the God’s whisper, I listen and weave their magic words into a piece of art for the soul to hear.

Her current collection is a reflection of this spiritual journey. The lightness of being worn in a beautiful ring, good intentions magically woven into metal and wisdom forged into unique works of art. Vanessa’s art represents two ethical pillars, mutual trust and respect as well as appreciation of value and purpose. According to Vanessa:

‘I am more of a designer/ artist than a craftsman – the ideas behind the pieces are influenced by spirituality which will hopefully have a therapeutic effect on the person wearing it. My main client base is made up of therapists, healers, doctors, psychologists who desire items to wear at work to maintain a sense of clarity and focus. The other aspect of my work is very much inspired by nature to help the wearer feel more grounded – this holistic approach runs through each and every piece.’
